Small spaces force you to be intentional — and that’s actually a creative gift. Every piece has to earn its place.
Use mirrors strategically. A large mirror opposite a window doubles the light and visually expands the room. A mirrored cabinet or console serves double duty.
Choose furniture with legs. Sofas, chairs, and tables that show their legs feel lighter than pieces that sit flush to the floor — the eye reads the visible floor as more open space.
Go vertical with storage. Tall, narrow shelving units, wall-mounted cabinets, and floor-to-ceiling wardrobes use space others waste.
Multi-functional pieces are worth investing in: ottomans with hidden storage, console tables that extend into dining tables, beds with drawers built in.
