The home office stopped being optional years ago. If you spend serious hours working from home, the space deserves serious thought.
Start with the chair. An ergonomic chair is the single highest-impact investment for your health and focus. Don’t compromise here.
The desk should match how you work. Standing desk converters help if you sit too much. Wide desks work for multi-monitor setups. Compact wall-mounted desks save floor space in small rooms.
Storage should support your workflow. Filing drawers within arm’s reach. Cable management built in. Vertical shelving for reference materials.
Lighting affects everything. Position your desk so windows are to the side, not in front of or behind your screen. Add a quality task lamp for evening work.
Finally, separate the office visually from the rest of the home. Even a partial divider — a tall bookshelf, a rug, a different paint colour — helps your brain switch into “work mode.”
